On Monday 27 March 2023 at around 13h00, the Atlantis police was called out to a murder scene in an open field behind Protea Park rugby field.
On arrival they found a 52-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his face. Later the same day at 19h45, the police arrested a 24-year-old male suspect from Atlantis, who was detained and due to appear in the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court. On Saturday 4 March 2023 at 20h00, Jean-Pierre Miquel Frederick, (27) was shot in the head on the same spot. No arrests have been made. On Sunday 16 October 2022 at 02h15, a 40-year-old victim, Christo Brendo Skippers was also killed with a gunshot wound to the head. This occurred on he corner of Orchid and Strelitzia Streets in Protea Park.
