She says the performance was deeply personal. “It was one of the most powerful feelings ever. Atlantis has so much talent and resilience, and to stand there with our community on my heart, knowing I was showing the world where I come from, made me so proud.”
“It was overwhelming. I felt a mix of nerves, pride, and gratitude all at once. The moment my feet touched the pitch, I knew this was bigger than just me. It was about representing my country, my people, and the anthem itself.” The emotional weight of her rendition did not go unnoticed, and fans and media outlets described it as moving and goosebump-inducing.
Asked how she connects so deeply to the anthem, Talitha says: “For me, the anthem isn’t just words and melody—it’s a reflection of our history, our struggles, and our unity. I sing it with the weight of those who came before us and the hope of where we’re going. That’s what helps me connect so deeply. It was a way of honouring my roots, my family, and everyone who has supported me.” But there was a lot of hard work behind the scenes. “Vocally, I trained every day to make sure my voice was strong. Mentally, I reminded myself that this wasn’t about perfection but about connection. And emotionally, I prayed, reflected, and held on to why I was singing.” Being one of the youngest to sing the anthem at a Springbok match could have been daunting, but Talitha embraced it. “I saw it as a chance to inspire other young people, showing that no matter your age, you can step into great opportunities if you’re prepared and passionate.”The reaction has been overwhelming. “I’ve been humbled by how many people reached out, from journalists to radio shows, saying how much the performance touched them. It’s been surreal seeing that kind of love and recognition.” But perhaps most meaningful has been the response from Atlantis, with people stopping her in the streets to say how proud they are. Chris Samuels, who has been her manager for many years, says Talitha was never difficult to work with. Way back, when their music studio business closed in Atlantis, everyone went their separate ways, and he considered stepping away from the music industry. When Talitha asked him if he could continue managing her, he decided to give it a try. “She is an amazing person. I would do it all over again because she and her parents trusted me with that responsibility. I am super proud of her and it has been such an honour to work with her for the past 11 years now.” He revealed they have a few exciting events lined up, including the ‘Afrikaans is Groot’ concert due this coming weekend at DHL Stadium in Cape Town. “Looking ahead, she may have her first big solo show in 2026 to celebrate both her 21st birthday and 11 years in the music industry,” Samuels said.
Talitha considers this as the beginning of a journey. “The performance has inspired me to keep growing as an artist and to use my voice not just to sing, but to tell stories, inspire people, and represent my community on even bigger stages, both locally and internationally. I’m especially grateful to my parents for their unconditional love and sacrifices.” She says Chris has been such a constant in this 11-year journey. “He often reminded me of my strength even when I doubted myself. His presence wasn’t just supportive, it was grounding, and I truly wouldn’t have walked this path the same way without him.
